The Manila Dental Society was very proud to host the PDA-COLGATE Regional Conference last May 21, 2009 at the Quezon City Sports Complex. MDS president Dr. Ramon-Chito Ferrer, with the help of other NCR chapter presidents, made it a huge success with 236 registered delegates.
The program began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opening the trade exhibits led by Philippine Dental Association President Dr. Leo Gerard R. De Castro, Dr. Ramon Chito F. Ferrer, MDS President and MDS Trade Exhibit Chair Dr. Anna Leonora V. Camus.
Dr. Ma. Josefina Tiongson and Dr. Jose Angelo Militante, both officers of the Manila Dental Society, hosted and emceed the event and presided as Masters of Ceremony. Dr. Chito Ferrer kicked off by welcoming and acknowledging its newest PDA chapters: the AFP and the PNP. Dr. Louie D. Quiambao, Professional Relations Associate for Colgate-Palmolive Phils. Inc., spoke in- behalf of Dr. Angel N. David II, Professional Relations Manager. PDA VPs Dr. Angelo V. Fernandez and Dr. Maridin Munda Lacson formally opened the event.
PDA-EVP Dr. Robert Tajonera presented an overview of the PDA´s continuing Dental Education Program immediately followed by PDA Auditor Dr. Arleen Reyes who promoted the PDA-101 Annual Convention. The next speaker Dr. Francisco Jimenez, Jr. Chairman, Colgate Sci program, gave the overview of the Scientific sessions.
Antipolo City president Dr. Iraida R. de Leon introduced the first lecturer, Dr. Anna Maria Lorenzana, who spoke on "Tools For Better Dentistry." Dr. Christopher Malahat, President of the Marikina Chapter and Dr.Anna Cualing, Paranaque President moderated the open forum after the session.
Makati Dental Chapter president, Dr. Amelita Reyes introduced the second speaker, Dr. Luinio S. Tongson, who lectured on "Dental Management of the Diabetic Patient." Open forum was moderated by Las Pinas President Dr. Florabelle Frondoso and Valenzuela President Dr. Maria Theresa Torres.
Dr. Joselito Atabug, who lectured on Hypertension and Coronary Artereal Disease: Management of the Dental Patient was introduced by Dr. Ronald Fernando, QCDSI president. Dr. Raymundo Lope, Pasay President and Caloocan President Dr. Ofelia Hosenilla, led the open forum.
Dr. Maribel Reyes, Malabon-Navotas Dental Society President, introduced the final speaker for the session Dr. Nanette Vergel de Dios who lectured on ?Mouth-Body Connections?. The open forum was moderated by Dr. Marie Arlene Christine Valerio, PPTC President and Dr. Judith Ferrer President San Juan Dental Chapter.
Dr. Marian R. Manuel, MDS chairman, in behalf of the PDA-COLGATE NCR Regional Conference committee awarded the Acknowledgement of the Regional Chapters´ Participation to the different chapter presidents. Dr. Momar Marquez - Award committee chair assisted Dr. Marian Manuel and Dr. Chito Ferrer. A token of appreciation was given to Colgate by Manila Dental Chapter for its unwavering support to the society. The closing remarks were delivered by MDS EVP Dr. Delia Barba.
