The Benguet Dental Chapter hosted the Northwestern Luzon leg of the nationwide series of regional conferences. This joint project of Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, Inc. and the Philippine Dental Association, aims to educate dentists of the systemic effects of dental diseases. To support this objective, Colgate provided lecturers to talk on periodontics (Dr. Nanette Vergel de Dios), Crown lengthening (Dr. Juan Vicente Jaurige), coronary diseases (Dr. Joselito Atabug) and diabetes (Dr. Ma. Mercedes de la Rosa).
The conference was held at the Diamond Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Supreme Convention Plaza, Baguio City on July 19, 2009. Made possible with the full support of the six local chapters comprising the Northwestern Luzon Region and their presidents, namely: the Baguio City Dental Society (Dr. Silvestre Samson III), Benguet Dental Chapter (Dr. Stephanie M. Cutiyog), La Union Dental Society (Dr. Marion Mary Rose Geraldine Rimorin), Ilocos Norte Dental Chapter (Dr. Alexander Ramos), Ilocos Sur Dental Chapter (Dr. Cynthia Valencia) and Pangasinan Dental Society (Dr. Lucilla Honrado). There were also delegates from the defunct Abra Dental Chapter.
A total of 246 dentists attended the regional conference. Also present were PDA officers headed by Dr. Leo Gerald de Castro and personalities, namely Dr. Catalino Manuel (Professional Relations Associate & Regional Conference Coordinator - Colgate-Palmolive Philippines), Dr. Francisco Jimenez (Chairman, Colgate-PDA Scientific Program) and Dr. Rosivini Sison (Project Consultant).
Towards the end of the conference, delegates were all given free Colgate samples and merchandise. Guests from the PDA as well as the chapter presidents and lecturers were all given Plaques of Appreciation from Colgate-Palmolive Philippines and baskets of local products from the provinces of the six local chapters as tokens.
